"Kiss my pegs."

~ Baby

Mojo by Jez Butterworth was the week nine weekend show in the University of York Drama Society's Autumn 2023 season. I was brought onto the show to play the character of Baby.

Baby is, in no light terms, an unhinged psychotic man-child, with a short temper and serious daddy issues. I was given largely free reign to improvise moments for the character, such as eating cherries off of a cake, or picking up and strumming a ukulele during a particularly tense interaction.

The role wasn't without its challenges, not least the dancing, singing, and cockney accent. None of which I had really attempted before, and certainly not on-stage. But, with the talented team behind the show, alongside my amazing castmates, I felt confident in pushing outside of my comfort zone, and it was a joy to take on such an unhinged character.
