~ Description of the project given by 282 Video Production
I had the opportunity to assist in the creation of this advert for Russell House Preparatory School through work experience with 282 Video Production. It was filmed in June, and was finished in the edit by October of 2019.
Although I only assisted in the production stage of this advertisement, my work on the project taught me many lessons about directing, and how to make a shot look good (with framing, motion, etc.). I also learnt a lot about lighting techniques in relation to black card and diffusion paper, which was used a lot in interior shots to obtain a softer looking sunlight. Although my role was small, it was incredibly useful in teaching me the ropes of filmmaking.
The final advert was sent off to Showcase Cinema in Bluewater, where it had a 6-month run, during which it played before every film showing.
I also had more work experience with the production company in July of 2019. I headed down to 282’s office in Royal Tunbridge Wells, and we took their Canon C100 out for the day to shoot some footage in the local area, before I edited it all together when we returned. This was great for giving me technical experience, providing me with the opportunity to work with more professional equipment, and also taught me some of the basic rules of editing.
